Court Grants Final Approval

On December 13, 2013, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York issued an Order granting final approval of the Visa/MasterCard settlement.

In his opinion, Judge Gleeson noted that the proposed settlement was “fair, reasonable, and adequate.” Judge Gleeson specifically approved the processes which have been developed since the Claims Administrator was appointed. Judge Gleeson will continue working with the Claims Administrator to assure that the process is both fair and effective.

Since the initial approval was granted in November, 2012, the Administrator was appointed, the notice process was developed, and the machinery for accepting and processing claims was set in place. Now, that process begins in earnest.

While the claim forms and the deadline of submission has not been set, the information required to register a claim has been published by the courts (for more information visit https://www.paymentcardsettlement.com/en).
